Client Critiques
I would have to 2nd two of the items Stid Hillbilly was disappointed by relating to this bow(emblems falling off, the added care necessary on the center bolt(to some point unavoidable by design)). My stock sections appear fine. He is well to be concerned about the arrow string. I had mine seperate just after 30-35 shots(Barnett bolts, strings waxed before each and every use). It appeared to pull the loops out of both ends way more so than break. I am not all that supprised due to the incredible power released when you pull the trigger. I contacted Barnett and they readily agreed to send me yet another string and did not deny or confirm that this was a predicament. I paid for an added string as well. (hopefully it will not truly take 4-6 days to leave the factory as stated when I ordered). Be carefull when initially sighting in as the top line(20 yard line?) on my scope ended up becoming about 45 yards. Third line down just about went off the target block high at 70 yards(windage was off perfect two-3 inches and each and every shot was dead on windage when dialed in). Took 3 full turns down(150 clicks) to get the fourth line to 50 yards in a 3" group. It sticks the bolts to the feathers at 30 yards and I am awaiting my new string to attempt it on a new Morell 400fps 32lb block. A single incredible killing machine, how it holds up is but to be verified. Personally, I would be pleased to replace the draw string each season as long as the accuracy holds up. Of course, no one particular will be impressed if it can not even make an average season(30-40 shots for me).
Additional review just after string replacement: I no longer think that the string breaking was a issue with the bow. I am convinced that I mis-nocked the arrow. I have paid close consideration to my cocking method and the string and bolt position when cocked. I identified that I do not pull up on the cocking rope causing it to favor high as originally described, but essentially the opposite, pulling down causing it to land specifically in the necked down portion of the release pins as designed. Immediately after 40 extra shots, I have had no extra trouble with the string and actually can not see any other explantion other than a mis-nocked bolt. I recieved punctual input from Barnett every time I asked for it.
On third shot out of box string blew apart bow sounded like it exploded bolt went two feet.The arrow nock was broke on arrow that was shot from bow. Referred to as Barnett consumer service and had to leave message. Following a week with no reply I returned bow to seller for refund.This bow is going to hurt someone in my opinion.I think this crossbow was rushed to production and Barnett wants to eliminate from industry till they get string and arrow difficulties solved. I've heard that Barnett has good buyer service but that was not my experience.If thinking of acquiring this bow go on web and Google Ghost 400 bow concerns and you will see from others that string put on and bolts are a major situation.
